“Water, Earth, Fire, Air...”

Avatar the Last Airbender is now on Netflix, and viewers are more than excited to rewatch this 2005- 2008 animated TV series. This unique TV show appeals to a broad audience because of its interesting plot and characters. In a world where people can be element benders, Aang and his friends overcome internal and external obstacles to ultimately defeat the evil Fire Lord and bring peace to the world. The quirky, lovable characters make it hard for you to stop watching once you have started, so make yourselves some mocktails as you and your family immerse yourselves in the world of Avatar The Last Airbender.

What is Mocktail?

A mocktail is a non-alcoholic cocktail that is perfect for families to enjoy together. Not only are they irresistibly good, because of its juice, soda, or sparkling water base, but their various bright coloring also makes them aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

Water Bender

The Katara drink features 1883 Maison Routin’s Blue Curacao syrup to represent water, the element of change. She finds Aang, the Avatar, and joins him on a journey to master all the elements. This drink mimics Katara’s elegance and positivity with its sparkling blue color and fancy rimming.

Ingredients:

16 oz of crushed ice
1 oz of 1883 Blue Curacao syrup
Sparkling water to fill the cup
Granulated sugar for rimming

Directions:

1. Place 16 oz (a cup of)  ice in the blender. Blend in an inconsistent manner, stopping every second. Repeat until the ice is in chunks small enough to fit through a boba straw.
2. Slightly wet the rim of your glass and dip it in the granulated sugar
3. Transfer your crushed ice into a glass cup and then add in the blue syrup
4. Fill the rest of the glass with sparkling water
5. Stir and witness your drink turn into a clear shade of blue

Earth Bender

The Toph drink features 1883 Maison Routin’s Green Mint and Cucumber syrup to capture Toph’s (aka the Blind Bandit) cool and refreshing personality. Toph Beifong, Avatar’s Aang Earth bending teacher who has been blind since birth, appears to be tough and hard to approach on the outside when in reality she is a great friend and travel companion. With Earth being the element of substance, this drink contains fresh avocados and jalapenos, making this drink much more “substantial” than the rest.

Ingredients:

16 oz of crushed ice
1 tbsp of Avocado
2-3 slices of Jalapeno pepper w/ seeds removed
1 oz of 1883 Cucumber Syrup
1 oz of 1883 Green Mint syrup
Sparkling water to fill the glass

Directions:

1. Place 16 oz (a cup of)  ice in the blender. Blend in an inconsistent manner, stopping every second. Repeat until the ice is in chunks small enough to fit through a boba straw.
2. In a cup, add 1 tbsp of avocado and your Jalapeno, and mash it together.
3. Now, add in your crushed ice, 1 oz of cucumber syrup, and 1 oz of green mint syrup.
4. Fill the rest of your cup with sparkling water or club soda. Stir thoroughly and enjoy!

Avatar: Air Bender

The Avatar Aang drink features 1883 Maison Routin’s Lavender and Pink Grapefruit syrup, which are the essential touches to this calming yet tangy drink. The soothing nature of lavender makes it the perfect candidate for representing the freedom that comes with a controlled Avatar state of mind.

½ oz of 1883 Pink Grapefruit syrup
3 oz of fresh grapefruit juice

1. Place 16 oz (a cup of)  ice in the blender. Blend in an inconsistent manner, stopping every second. Repeat until the ice is in chunks small enough to fit through a boba straw.
2. Transfer your crushed ice into a glass cup and then add the pink grapefruit syrup.

Fire Bender

The Zuko drink features 1883 Pomegranate and Rose syrup. Zuko, who in the beginning tries to kill the Avatar in hopes of gaining his father, the Fire Lord's approval, ends up becoming one of Aang’s close travel companions. This pinkish-red drink represents fire, the element of power. Similar to Mr. tough guy Zuko, even though at first glance the drink may look intimidating, but the taste of it is sweet and flowery.

Ingredients:

16 oz of crushed ice
1 oz of 1883 Pomegranate syrup
½  oz of 1883 Rose syrup
Sparkling water to fill a glass

Directions:

1. Place 16 oz (a cup of)  ice in the blender. Blend in an inconsistent manner, stopping every second. Repeat until the ice is in chunks small enough to fit through a boba straw.
2. Transfer your crushed ice into a glass cup and then add the pomegranate syrup.
3. Fill the glass with sparkling water.
4. To top it off, drizzle in the rose syrup.
5. Stir and enjoy!
